A Struggling Society
Over many years it has become painfully clear to me that the deep social ills which confound us, the gaping wounds of poverty, racism, homelessness and crime are inexorable tied together, a Gordian knot held fast by the systemic curse of profound social and economic inequality. The only way we can possibly start to cut that knot of despair is to step up with clear eyes, compassion and humility and admit what we see before us. As a photojournalist I try to bear witness so that perhaps by seeing these realities we can start to drive the social change we must to survive as a civilized culture.
